COLECTIVO BáMBULA We Remember. Nosotros Recordamos.
In April of 2020, Roslyn Cecilia founded the Online Boricua Book Club, a virtual affinity space for Boricuas across the United States to center Puerto Rican literature, artistry and other content with the explicit intent to center collective storytelling, learning and community bonding. Members meet monthly to talk about identity, lived experience, culture, race, joy, history, love, social justice and liberation politics. The Book Club is a space for ALL Boricuas - stateside and island born of every and any intersecting identity.
In the wake of the Bori Book Club, Roslyn offered to all members an opportunity to meet and discuss ways to expand this space. On June 25, 2020, Roslyn Cecilia, Addys Castillo, Luz Burgos-Lopez and Jae Avilez met to discuss the future of what is now Colectivo Bámbula.
Colectivo Bambula is a coalition of anti-racist Eduvists cultivating Puerto Rican liberation politics, artistry and scholarship with the intent to re-imagine and honor ancestral knowledge and work towards the decolonization of the past, present and future.
